Beta AMD Software Adrenalin 23.thirty.13.01 for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora provides HAGS support on Radeon RX 7000

Messages appeared on Guru3D that the new driver may include a function that AMD drivers have not since 2020, called Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling (Hags). The last time this function was noticed in the Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20 driver.5.1, which was released specifically for this technology and supported the Radeon RX 5600 and RX 5700 models. But years later, many video cards appeared in which this function was absent, at least officially.

Regarding hardware launch on video cards, this is a special function supported in Windows 10, which can potentially improve the responsiveness of the graphic processor and ensure additional innovations in managing the working loads of the graphic processor. It was AMD that described this function in the first and last driver that supported Hags.

From a technical point of view, this is not the first "modern" Hags support driver, as the Radeon Pro W7700 driver has already offered such support. However, this beta-driver is the first designed specifically for the Radeon RX game series. Moreover, various users reported that HAGS became available through some Microsoft Drivers, but this is the first driver that you can download with HAGS support directly from AMD.

AMD HAGS is not supported in Radeon RX 6000 series, and it seems that AMD does not plan to include this function. In 2021, AMD confirmed that HAGS does not provide expected improvements for productivity for RDNA2 graphic processors, so it was canceled in the subsequent issues of drivers.

Since the beta support was previously provided for some cards with this function, as indicated in the link, but since there is no expected improvement in performance, in recent versions of GPU this function is not supported and not turned on .- AMD on Hags, 2021

As for real improvements, synthetic tests conducted by GURU3D employees do not show any benefit, but it is expected that this function will not provide a two-digit increase, rather something within the permissible error. It is not clear why AMD has so many versions of drivers for the same architects of graphic processors, and when the company will finally release a stable branch offering all these functions together.
